What Have You Overcome?

Often a variety of circumstances sail us through the daily sea of life.  It's a given, life is unfair.  The more I experience, the more I wonder how and why some things happen  the way they do... I've just come to the conclusion that we don't have to understand it all to be happy.

Basing our joy on what someone else did or didn't do is treacherous.  "I will never forget what they
did to me..." or "I'll never forgive them!" can leave us feeling broken inside and robbed of what we thought we deserved.  I can't tell you how many times I've seen and heard grown adults unable to get over things that happened when they were kids.  Simple observation tells me there are a lot of people holding on to pain from the  past.

You may say, "Hey, a lot has happened to me!" ...but  I ask you,  "What have you overcome?"

My Friend, do you need to deal with anger or resentment over something you or someone else did?  When you think  about it, how does it make you feel?  Acknowledging how we feel
about a situation is a powerful tool in moving forward.  Find someone you can be honest with or write down your thoughts and feelings... usually, we feel a lot better afterwards, and may just find that what was bouncing around in our head wasn't worth all it was cracked up to be!

Today, I encourage you to push through your personal grudges in life and understand
that your firm grip on the pain doesn't hold "them" responsible for their actions... it holds YOU  accountable and ends up hurting the ones you love.

Remember, we are so much more than what happens to us;  we are meant to inspire others through our ability to overcome.

True words Amy. Through years in the business world I can tell you there is a direct connection between passion and success. Those without it are going through the motions and mechanics of life, those with it are making motions that shape their life and future. My boss says, always set goals far higher than you ever thought you could obtain. In your mind you may think; getting to rung #2 would be a really good goal. Whoa! Aim for rung #5, be passionate and strive for it and when you (only) reach rung # 3 or # 4 you will still be ahead of where you thought you would be. Almost no one when life is nearly over spends much time regretting things they did, more often they anguish over what they wished they had done. Have a plan, modify it as you go, never stop setting goals. A wise man told me many years ago, "Son, life is like a mountain of gravel you have to climb, you scratch, pull and push your way. The moment you stop scratching, pulling and pushing, you immedaitely start sliding downhill". If you haven't had the chance to sit down and talk with Amy you should do that soon. Thanks, Amy.
